Hey there and welcome back to In The Making, where I ramble on and on about my current projects which are in the works.
So, as I mentioned in my Instagram post debuting The Adulting JOURNAL, I realized that I couldn’t have a blog with the word “journal” in the title without creating an actual journal to accompany it!

Now here I am. I think The Adulting JOURNAL is going to be a project detailing my process of writing for the blog. Bouts of writer’s block, inspiration for new posts, general thoughts on things I want to improve or add to the blog. Essentially going “behind the scenes” with my online posts.
And if you do follow The Adulting Journals Instagram, you will have already gotten quite a few peeks into what The Adulting JOURNAL is going to look like. Of course, things will change with time as I see what’s more efficient, and what I enjoy best. But I think I’ve got the gist of it down!
I suppose this is a decent segue into my next item of interest…
As you all know, I love poetry. It’s been a therapeutic art form that has helped me in healing since I was a child, and that passion has carried on even now into adulthood. Throughout high school, I would publish my own poetry online. I had a very supportive audience and built a small community of incredible poets from all different backgrounds.
Several months of depression pulled me away from my online community and I did not publish any of my writing online until I began The Adulting Journals. I figure now is the best time to dabble in my interest in spoken word poetry.
I love the power words can hold with the right inflection, but I never had an interest in (and was, in fact, afraid of) posting videos online. It’s scary putting your face out there… On my blog, my work speaks for itself without me having to utter a single word. But I fear I would be diluting my poetry, which I’ve written specifically to speak to an audience, if I only post the transcript.
I have yet to come up with some cute, witty name for my poetry section of my blog, but very soon, I will begin creating videos reading my own poetry aloud, as well as posting the transcript. I’ve already got a few projects in the works, so I’m very excited to begin filming and figuring out this new change to The Adulting Journals!!
With excitement and anticipation,
Alexandra
